Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Quickly access answers to common questions about Casa Esperanza, our services, and our impact on the community.

  • Who do I call for admission to the Casa Esperanza program?
    • Please call our centralized patient intake at 617-445-1123 x849 and get all the information you need about our Casa programs. For information about the Supportive Housing program, please call (617) 906-6515.
  • How will family members be involved in treatment at Casa Esperanza and aftercare planning?
    • Patients who are 18 years old or older are legal adults with legal privacy rights. We are subject to HIPPA healthcare privacy regulations, so treatment information access without a patient’s written consent is prohibited. All health providers must obtain formal permission to share information (including diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis) with you, or anyone else, even if you are a spouse, a parent, or a guardian of a patient. Family contact is crucial to a patient’s treatment and recovery. Family members may participate in Family Educational Groups, Parenting Support groups, and family-oriented community events. Family members are encouraged to visit during visiting hours and maintain phone contact. Family members may request to participate in a case conference to discuss any concerns or needs of the family unit as part of aftercare planning.
  • What do I need to know about insurance and addiction treatment?
    • If you are a patient or family member at Casa Esperanza, your treatment team will work with you and the insurance company to obtain coverage for the recommended treatment. No one will be denied access to care due to inability to pay.
  • How long does treatment last?
    • Individuals progress through treatment at their own pace, so there is no predetermined length of treatment. However, research has shown unequivocally that good outcomes are contingent on adequate treatment length and all of our programs are tailored to the unique needs of each individual and family. Our residential treatment program averages 6-9 months for single individuals and 6-12 months for parents reunifying with children.  Length of stay for ATS-Detox and CSS services ranges from 5-14 days as determined by the patient’s health insurance.
  • Are there any support groups or resources for families and friends of patients?
    • Absolutely. Our Casa care plans include medical care, health resources, wrap-around support, individual, group, and family therapy, and referrals to community services. Family members may contact our Familias Unidas Program at (617) 684-6209 if they are interested in participating in family support groups or need more information about resources in their community.
